In an open letter, he stated that the reason for returning the medal is the fact that no medal can be greater than family.

“Dear President, my name is Nenad Ristović, doctor, infectologist from Zaječar. Winner of the high state award of the Gold Medal for merits in the fight against Kovid-19. I am sure that you awarded the awards according to certain and high criteria , so I want to say a few more words about myself.
I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (9.07), specialization in infectious diseases (excellent), specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology (excellent) and passed the doctoral exam in doctoral studies in the field of immunology (8.00), I have been working for 23 years old and I am the head of the service department. and cares for the citizens of eight municipalities in the Timok region.
I come from a military family, I know what order and respect are. I spent my life moving around Serbia, where the need for my father’s service required it. The mobilizations of 1994 and 1999, the wars, as well as responding to each military exercise of the reserve composition of the Serbian army since 2015, are not alien to me.
I answered every call that said FATHERLAND CALLS, so this time it was with Kovid-19. First Nis, then Zajecar, then Belgrade. I answered the moment my mother was on her deathbed. His death surprised me in Belgrade in our joint task in the fight against Kovid-19. I buried her, and a few days later I returned to the line of health workers for whom there is no NO I CAN AND I WILL NOT, but only a fight for a smile on the face of each of our patients.
The news of the award caught up with me the day I felt the symptoms of Kovid-19 after the shift ended. After two days, the illness also affected other members of my family.
The medal awarded caused a stir in our city. A large number of people came to congratulate me and all health workers, giving us support to persevere in this fight against Kovid-19. Such high state recognition has not reached our city for more than 25 years, either for an individual or for an institution.
I now address you as chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party. I have been suffering beatings and attacks from members of his party since 2012, and I am used to that. And you can guess what arsenal of insults it is. And my reaction would not be so intense if the two with the helmsman of criminals at the top of their party in Zajecar, one convicted of abuse of power and the other of domestic violence, did not cross all borders and measures.
They beat my family. The family is sacred. There is no Serbia without a family. And all because of politics and the attitude of embarrassing me and my family with vulgar and extremely brazen attacks and thus gain political points for the next local elections, which should be held in April 2021. The fear is great, they think that with your confession They have lost everything, and that you have given me an advantage that is unattainable.
I address you as a father, husband and a man whose intention you do not understand personally, but as a fight for me and your family. Because such or similar people who have nothing of morals or family, do not know the values of life.
That is why I return the medal to them, to give it to them or to someone according to the measures and criteria of the mentioned criminals, because no medal, not even a gold one, can be bigger and higher than the family.
I will not take your time anymore because we must return to our common struggle and the decisive defense of the health of our people and our country since Kovid-19, but rest assured that I will fight against the criminals in your ranks, and I believe father, husband, man and lawyer. be on the side of truth and justice.
