The investigating judge of the National Court ordered the arrest of the accused, due to special circumstances that indicate that he will hinder the process by influencing the witnesses and that he will repeat the crime in a short time, the statement said.

Custody was also ordered because the crime he is charged with is punishable by imprisonment of more than 10 years, and the form, severity and consequences of the crime have caused public disturbances that can endanger the fluidity and fairness of the process . statement.

The suspect MA and his defense lawyer have the right to appeal within three days of receipt of the decision to the extrajudicial criminal panel of the Belgrade High Court.

As specified in the court announcement, MA is charged with eight criminal acts of rape and five criminal acts of illegal sexual activity.

As announced by the Superior Prosecutor’s Office tonight, Aleksić denied at hearing guilt for rape and illegal sexual acts of which he is suspected, and the prosecutor proposed that the court order his detention for up to 30 days.

According to the statement, he is suspected of having committed those crimes from 2008 to 2020, and the victims were minors at that time, but also after they came of age, the Superior Prosecutor’s Office said, adding that it would carry out a further investigation.

Aleksić was interrogated as a suspect of rape (Article 178 of the Penal Code) and seven criminal acts of illicit sexual activity (Article 183 of the Penal Code), according to the testimonies of the injured parties, one of whom is a minor.

The Prosecutor’s Office stated that it would not provide further details of the process, due to the seriousness of the crimes attributed to the suspect, as well as the fact that he had the confidence of the entire public and that the public was upset by this case. they were minors.

In a statement, the Superior Prosecutor’s Office also recalled that “it is the legal obligation of all the participants in the process not to present the facts that they know during the process, especially taking into account the interests of the victims who have not yet been investigated.”
