The crown burns throughout Serbia, yesterday the ceiling was broken with more than 6,000 new cases and almost 30 deaths from this virus in our country in just 24 hours, and today, precisely because of that, anti-epidemiological measures could be tightened. And everything will be known after the Crisis Staff session for the fight against kovid-19, which will begin at the Palace of Serbia at 9:00 AM.
Several measures are in process, and almost all the representatives of the medical part of the Crisis Staff spoke about them in the previous days.
– Three new measures could be discussed, namely a further shortening of the working hours of shops and catering services, then the transition to work from home in most companies, with mandatory confirmation for gardens of childhood that the parents of children should be in their workplace – said yesterday at the press conference in Nis, epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović.
Kindergartens
Some cities, such as Nis, Temerin and Vrbas, have already prescribed the obligation that parents must bring a certificate that they are obliged to be at their workplace. Otherwise children will not be admitted to kindergartens.
– It is not excluded that it is recommended that everyone who can work from home, and that children are not taken to kindergarten, but only go with the confirmation of their parents that they have to work – said Dr. Branislav Tiodorović.
However, more drastic measures, such as the closure of the kindergarten, are not excluded. This was indirectly confirmed by Belgrade’s Secretary of Education and Child Protection, Slavko Gak, but with the observation “that he believes it is not necessary.”
“We will be prepared for any further measures that may be taken by crisis personnel, although I am convinced that it is not necessary to close the kindergartens in Belgrade,” Gak said.
Schools
The issue of schools is always in the spotlight in front of all crisis staff, and more and more cities have transferred students to online classes, so that could be discussed as well. After all, it was suggested by Dr. Predrag Kon at the last meeting, but he did not get the support of most of his colleagues.
Two days ago, the Municipality of Vrbas made the decision that all the schools in its territory should start teaching from home. However, the Prime Minister stated that “schools and kindergartens are the safest places for now” …
– However, I will ask crisis staff members to provide referrals at any time when they feel they are necessary, whether it’s to extend the vacation or switch to online classes. At the moment, I don’t see any reason for that – said Ana Brnabić.
On the other hand, the closure of schools in some municipalities excited parents who interpreted it as an introduction to the complete transition to online. The question is once again open, if the classes are held in the classrooms, until when and on what does that decision depend. The Education Ministry told “Blic” that there will be no school closures at the Serbian level. However, when it comes to individual municipalities, things are different.
In the crisis staff session, the mechanism for going online must be specified for several reasons, and one is the law. According to the Law of Fundamentals of the Educational System, article 105 establishes that the local crisis headquarters can close schools, but not make the decision to switch to the Internet. This practically means that, by law, schools can only be closed completely. But the fact is, the regulation was made before the pandemic and there is no provision for online teaching today. To overcome this legal ‘loophole’, but also to definitively clarify what can and cannot be done and under what conditions, the Ministry of Education will propose a model according to which it can be connected when the local crisis headquarters declare the state of emergency.
Movement Prohibition
Although most think that the driving ban is unnecessary, an increasing number of infected and dead people opens the possibility of something like this happening.
Thus, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, speaking about the previously introduced measure of banning work after 9 pm, mentioned what bans would come next. After the session of the Government of Serbia, which was held on Sunday, the Prime Minister pointed out that the next possible measure is a movement ban.
– The next measure is a driving ban, but we are not in favor. We will present it only if it is more necessary – said Ana Brnabić on that occasion.
We remind you that yesterday 18,980 people were tested for the coronavirus in Serbia, of which 6,109 tested positive, while, sadly, 29 people died.
Yesterday also broke black records: in terms of the number of new infected, since we broke the black crown of 6,000 for the first time, but also the number of deaths in a day, since the blackest biodan before is on November 18 with 27 lives lost.
No waiting with measurements
The shocking numbers, but also the health system that is about to explode, led to the scheduling of today’s session.
– The measures that came into force are scheduled for December 1, but that does not mean that they will wait until then if there are no results in a few days – Prime Minister Ana Brnabić clearly said yesterday during her visit to the National Academy of Public Administration . – We will wait three, four, five days to see the indicators.
Our infectologist and crisis staff member, Mijomir Pelemis, agreed with that yesterday.
– There is no waiting time: if there is no reduction in the number of new cases of kovida 19 in one or two days, anti-epidemic measures must be more stringent, so that we do not end in an epidemic, hospitals cannot accept patients and we have 50 and more deaths, ”he said.
Crisis headquarters during working hours until 6 pm
He also said that he insisted to the members of the medical part of the Crisis Staff, that long before the working hours of the catering and commerce facilities were shortened to 9 pm from Tuesday, that they close at 6 pm. However, it does not matter if these facilities operate until 6 pm or 9 pm, if anti-epidemic measures are not respected.
Strengthening the measures could mean further shortening the working hours of caterers and merchants, reorienting themselves to work from home, limiting the number of people on public transport and increasing the distance, which would mean that more than four square meters Current per person must be provided in bars.
