Novak is helping Serbia
– Considering the increase in the number of patients with the COVID-19 virus, our healthcare workers were again under the greatest blow, to be able to successfully care for and cure all patients. This time, we decided to assist the Institute of Oncology and Radiology and the Neurosurgery Clinic within the Serbian Clinical Center. We hope that these devices will improve conditions by periodically disinfecting and sterilizing the rooms where patients are staying to help reduce the circulation of the virus, but also that our donation will facilitate the process of providing IV therapy. We are aware that we have a challenging period ahead of us and a long road to emerge from the crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus, but we are also ready to help the community recover faster, Kremić noted.
Prof. Dr. Danica Grujicic, Acting Director of the Serbian Institute of Oncology and Radiology, emphasized that in this institution, the treatment and diagnosis of cancer patients during the epidemic is carried out without interruption and with the maximum use of capacity.
– To protect patients, but also employees, from COVID-19 infection, the Serbian Institute of Oncology and Radiology implements numerous measures, including a special cleaning and disinfection regime. The air surface decontamination device is of great importance because it allows rapid and complete disinfection of critical areas and hard-to-reach surfaces. Already in the first week we use it for disinfection in operating rooms, intensive care and isolation rooms in wards. We thank the Novak Djokovic Foundation for this important donation that will contribute to a safer environment for both patients and employees of the Institute – said Prof. Dr. Grujicic.
At the beginning of the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus, Novak and Jelena Djokovic donated one million euros for the purchase of necessary medical equipment for hospitals and health institutions throughout Serbia. So far, among other things, 12 ventilators and 54 clinical monitors have been delivered to the Kragujevac Clinical Center, Krusevac General Hospital, Cacak General Hospital, KBC in Kosovska Mitrovica, Cuprija General Hospital and “Studenica” General Hospital – Kraljevo, while the Clinic for 5 non-invasive Softflow respirators and 57 pairs of antibacterial obstructions were delivered to KCS pulmonology. The foundation also donated 5 million dinars to the General Hospital of Novi Pazar for the purchase of necessary medical equipment.
