The Government of Serbia has adopted new regulations due to the virus pandemic

In today’s session, the Government of Serbia approved the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, because it is necessary to ensure strict compliance with the measures to protect the health and life of citizens , preserve the health system and the economy.

The reforms to the law provide for the introduction of personal protection measures and greater responsibility of citizens, for whose implementation, in addition to health, are responsible for the communal inspection and the communal militia, both for natural and legal persons.

The amount of fines for not wearing masks inside and for not respecting physical distance will remain unchanged (5,000 dinars for individuals and 50,000 to 300,000 for legal entities), but their application will be faster and more efficient.

At the session, the decision was made to pay a one-time financial aid in the amount of 10,000 dinars to the employees of the health institutions of the Plan of the health institutions network.

In today’s session, the Government of Serbia also approved the Draft Law on Amendments to the Budget Law for 2020, which provides for total revenue of 1,291.4 billion dinars and expenditures in the amount of 1,774.4 billion dinars. dinars, that is, a deficit of 483 billion dinars.

The bill approved additional funds for the prevention and mitigation of the consequences caused by the covid-19 disease caused by the SARS-COV2 virus.

The funds were used for additional equipment for covid hospitals, construction of hospitals in Belgrade and Krusevac, and for the acquisition of medicines and medical supplies. Transfers to the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic have been increased for the acquisition of equipment and medicines necessary to prevent the spread of the disease and provide better medical care to all citizens.

The budget rebalancing also determined funds for capital projects, extended implementation of the program of economic assistance measures, allocation of subsidies to support the work of the hotel industry, maintenance of state roads, construction of roads in the Republic of Serbia, as well as incentives direct in agriculture.

The economic growth projection for 2020 has been revised up from -1.8 percent to -1.0 percent, which will be one of the best results in Europe, based on the evolution of the international environment, the sanitary measures adopted and taking into account the effects of measures to support the economy and the population.

In the absence of these measures to support the economy and the population, the fall in GDP in 2020 would be greater, reaching around 5 percent.

The national sports award was awarded to Jelena Karakašević for winning a silver medal at the World Handball Championships, which was held in Belgrade in 2013.
