On that occasion, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) also announced that citizens had no reason to worry about owning and using a 500 euro note.

It can be used for all legal transactions (exchange operations, deposit in banks, use for payments allowed in the country and payments abroad) and the European Central Bank has not announced that this banknote can be withdrawn from circulation, according to the NBS . .

A 500 euro banknote is legal tender in the countries of the European Monetary Union, like all other denominations of euro banknotes, series A.

Therefore, there are two series of euro banknotes in circulation at the same time. In addition to the old series, series A, which includes seven different denominations, namely denominations 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500, series B euro banknotes are also in circulation (placed in circulation successively since 2013). until 2019), which consists of six denominations, as it does not contain a denomination of 500 euros (this denomination of the aforementioned series will not be put into circulation by the European Central Bank because it has been observed that the denomination of 500 euros is often used in illegal transactions.

It is recommended to the citizens of the NBS Governorate that for their safety, and in terms of the appearance of forgeries, the exchange offices carry out work in banks and authorized exchange offices.
