The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg scheduled for November 5 the announcement of the verdict in the process against the state of Serbia, based on a lawsuit filed by the family of Dragan Jakovljevic, who was killed along with Drazen Milovanovic in front of the facilities. of Karas at Topcider’s barracks. October 2004, Nova.rs.

The lawsuit specifically refers to the acquittal of former military examining magistrate Vuk Tufegdzic, who was sued by the Jakovljevic family for damaging the reputation and honor of their deceased son with his “investigation”, public appearances and slander.

The lawsuit, which will be presented to the European Court panel in two weeks, was filed in 2011, after the then District Court rejected the lawsuit against Judge Tufegdzic, reports “Nova.rs”.

The legal representative of the family, Predrag Savić, previously stated that they expect a verdict in their favor and that it could be a precedent.

“We present it as a show of protest because we consider that the decision of the District Court, through which Vuk Tufegdzic was acquitted of the crime of theft of personal and family effects in the case of the late soldier Dragan Jakovljevic, was very problematic for the intervention of the Court for the Protection of Human Rights, ”Savić said.

It should be recalled that soldiers Dragan Jakovljević and Dražen Milovanović, members of the Guards Brigade, were found dead on October 5, 2004, after a shooting near the secret military installation of Karaš in Belgrade.

A military investigation first showed that one guard killed another and then committed suicide. However, the family and an important part of the public never believed this version of events and a special commission was later formed to verify that the guards were killed by a third person.

Based on this, the family filed a criminal complaint against Tufegdzic, who came to defend his thesis that it was a case of murder and suicide, which marked the guards as possible lovers, one of whom committed a crime out of passion. .

In 2014, the family managed to initiate another proceeding against Vuk Tufegdzic for abuse of official office, but that proceeding was also suspended, after numerous obvious obstructions, due to the statute of limitations.

The Topcider case remains a mystery to this day and despite numerous promises from officials, including President Aleksandar Vucic himself, the truth about the fate of the guards has never been revealed.
