The European Commission, on the occasion of the mutual expulsion of ambassadors from Montenegro and Serbia, emphasized that good neighborly relations are the basis of the countries’ progress on the path towards accession to the European Union.

– Respect for good neighborly relations is a fundamental pillar of the enlargement, association and stabilization process. Both Serbia and Montenegro are making good progress on the path to European integration, the Commission said.

The EU member states should agree on the annual conclusions on the countries of the enlargement process, which will be adopted in the Council of Ministers of General Affairs on December 8, at the ambassadors meeting tomorrow.

Let us remind you that yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro announced that the Ambassador of Serbia to this country, Vladimir Božović, was declared persona non grata and asked to leave Montenegro.

As a motive, the ministry claimed that Bozovic called the Podgorica Assembly in 1918 “liberated” and “free will” of the Montenegrin people, which, as they stated in the statement, “humiliated the highest legislative and representative body: the Parliament of Montenegro.” . that on 29 November 2018 it adopted a Resolution on the annulment of the decisions of the Assembly of Podgorica which, as they claim, “abolished the former sovereignty of Montenegro, its territory annexed to the Kingdom of Serbia and forcibly dethroned King Nikola Petrović Njegoš “.

The reciprocal reaction of Serbia followed, for which the Montenegrin ambassador to Serbia, Tarzan Milosevic, was ordered to leave our country in 72 hours.
