One of the busiest sections of the main road to Montenegro and Republika Srpska, travels again without delay, alternating hopping and waiting. The fifty-kilometer stretch of the rebuilt road is now easier, faster and, above all, safer.

“We often go here for work and now it’s really beautiful. It’s much safer compared to the previous period when there were a lot of potholes, so landslides on the critical part of the road along Surduk, so now it’s phenomenal, “said the citizens surveyed.

On the section of the road between Ovčar Banja and Užice, 14 bridges and a tunnel were rebuilt. Several retaining walls, slopes and cuts were built and fixed, the asphalt was replaced, and the road was reinforced. And the shorter and extremely demanding section from Uzice to Susica has now been completely revamped.

“Seven bridges were rebuilt, of which the biggest challenge was the Sušica and Krivaja bridges because the piers of those bridges are 40 meters apart. We worked with hanging scaffolds to finish as soon as possible because the biggest delays were on those bridges. “, He says. Slobodan Božović, Technical Director of the company “Putevi Užice”.

Leko Korićanac, CEO of “Puteva Užice”, says that the repair of the slopes was carried out on 50 thousand square meters with a protective net and shotcrete.

“In addition, we repair the landslide that has been active since the construction of this road, by making piles in the length of 400 meters, with a diameter of 1.5 meters with an upper beam”, says Koricanac .

The partial rehabilitation of bridges, tunnels, slopes and cuts made traffic difficult, but work is also being done on this extremely frequent section of the road between Čačak and Zlatibor.

At the junction of the roads to Uzice, Zlatibor and Visegrad, in the Susica loop, with this rehabilitation and revitalization of the road, the lighting was made, a road sewage treatment system, the old one was demolished and in instead a completely new one, about 60 centimeters taller and somewhat wider flyover than the previous one.

The highway, which has been collapsing for years and is passed over 10,000 vehicles a day at the height of the season, is now a modern two- or three-lane highway, which will soon connect this part of southwestern Serbia with the Corridor. eleven.
