V. d. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Andjelka Mitrović, made the decision today to suspend the procedure for the election of the Dean, and recommended to the Faculty Council that the vote be repeated, explaining that during the previous vote there were “technical obstacles and other kind”.
This measure caused discontent among the employees of the Faculty of Philology who met today in front of the Dean’s Office to express their disagreement with, according to what they say, the arbitrary decision of the Ministry of Education’s inspection, which ordered the nullity of the dean contest .
As Danas wrote, on the eve of last week’s session of the Teaching-Scientific Council of the Faculty of Philology, which planned to declare candidates for the new dean, a teaching inspection was presented at the faculty, which, among other things, ordered a contest for the dean. cancel.
Next, a session of the Council of the Faculty of Philology was convened on Friday, in which the members of that body spoke on this issue, but apart from unofficial information that the Council did not accept the suspension, the employees did not receive yesterday the official voting results.
They state that in explaining her decision, Acting Dean Mitrović refers to the decision of the educational inspection, and sent this inspection report to the Danas editorial office in response to our questions as to why the decision to suspend the inspection was made competence and why asked the Council The faculty returns to testify.
We were denied an answer as the Council members voted in the session held on Friday.
Yesterday at the Faculty the signing of the proclamation began, in which teachers and associates say they oppose the arbitrary and unfounded order of the educational inspection to suspend the procedure for choosing the dean.
“The interruption of this process, which occurs in accordance with the Faculty Statute, the University Statute and the Higher Education Law, would not contribute in any way to fixing the situation at the Faculty, but would only deepen the serious crisis we are in, “he said. proclamation.
It is added that in recent weeks, the Teaching-Scientific Council, in a secret vote, in which almost 90 percent of the members participated, elected various commissions and faculty bodies that have been waiting for months, even years, to be formed.
“The voting results showed that the majority of the collectives support the changes, while the candidates who enjoy the trust of former dean Ljiljana Markovic did much worse. With the vote for the candidate for dean, which was scheduled for September 17, this process of reconstitution of teaching bodies should have ended, which is the only way for the Faculty to come out of institutional agony. Three days before that vote, without any explanation, the interim administration of the Faculty, headed by the acting dean Andjelka Mitrovic, postponed the vote of the dean candidate to September 21, and then, equally arbitrary and without convincing reasons, ordered the educational inspection. the election of the dean is suspended. “Such order is, among other things, contrary to the order that the inspection itself issued in December 2019,” the proclamation reads.
The signatories say they do not agree with such violence and consider it an attack on the autonomy of the university and the legal order.
Ministry to annul the inspection decision
The signers of the proclamation demand that the Ministry of Education annul the inspection decision, and the interim dean to schedule the vote for the election of the candidate for dean without delay, so that the electoral procedure can be completed before October 1 . The employees also said that they would fight by all peaceful means, but did not rule out the possibility of organizing a protest. They ask their colleagues, academia and the public to support them.
