Members of the Kraljevo Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption arrested nine people in Prijepolje this morning for abusing their official position in the field of sports.
As the Rina agency unofficially finds out, he is the former president of the DZ municipality, while the detainees include the education inspector MM and a worker from the BN Municipal Administration. A member of one of the local BD sports federations was also arrested.
Five people were arrested in the municipality of Arilje, including two former mayors, also, as reported unofficially by the Rina agency, for abuse of official position in the sports field.
In today’s speech, President Aleksandar Vučić announced that two former mayors of the Serbian Progressive Party had been arrested.
– No one is protected, regardless of the foreigner he belongs to – said Vučić.
The president did not reveal exactly who he was, but the media unofficially reported that the former president of the municipality of Prijepolje, Dragoljub Z., and the former president of the municipality of Arilje, Miloš N., were arrested.
They are allegedly accused of committing acts of corruption in the field of sport and of issuing halal certificates.
– We know that mafia structures would not be what they are if they did not have strong support from some state agencies. Time to see that. Now they will see how quickly we discover all those gangster groups and their gangster affairs and see how many and what results we will have – said Vučić.
Criminal charges against arrested officials
The Ministry of the Interior announced that the former president of the municipality of Prijepolje, DZ (55), the person in charge of the kindergarten “Miša Cvijović”, IK (42) and six officials of the municipality of Prijepolje were arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of abuse of official position, abuse of official position in complicity.
Criminal charges in the ordinary procedure will be brought against the person responsible for the Prijepolje Tourism Organization.
Arrests also in Novi Pazar
Today, the police arrested 28 suspects for committing various criminal acts that damaged Serbia’s budget by several million dinars, including former and current municipal officials and directors of certain public companies in those cities.
Among those arrested is the deputy mayor of the city of Novi Pazar, E.Š. (39).
In Arilje, the police arrested the former mayor of Arilje MN (64), the deputy mayor of Arilje BV (55), the heads of the municipal administration of Arilje GP (56) and RNV (58), the official of the local community Kruščica TK (45), football official “Budućnost” from Arilje MS (69), former worker of the municipality of Arilje, as well as owners of two companies in the territory of the municipality of Arilje, due to the existence of reasons to suspect committed criminal acts of abuse of power.
The police will also bring criminal charges against the former mayor of Arilje ZT in a regular procedure. They are accused of abuses and machinations in the public procurement procedure. The suspects will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office with criminal charges.
