A Croatian pedestrian (70) died tonight on Mihajla Pupina street in Novi Pazar shortly after 6 pm when he was hit by a car by V. Ž. who didn’t stop after that, but instead fled the scene, allegedly in fear of what he did, reports indeksonline.rs.

The driver caused another minor traffic incident during the escape, but an hour later he decided to report it to the police, who meanwhile were conducting an investigation and setting off in search of the arrogant driver. He told Novi Pazar police about all the circumstances that led to the accident in which a pedestrian was killed.

The Ministry of the Interior confirmed tonight that they had identified and detained V. Ž. (45) of Novi Pazar for the existence of reasons to suspect that he committed the crime of serious crime against public road safety.

As indicated in the announcement of the Ministry of the Interior, it is suspected that V. Ž. Today around 6 pm in Novi Pazar, driving a car under the influence of alcohol, he ran over a seventy-year-old pedestrian who died and then fled the place.

By order of the competent prosecutor, the suspect V. Ž. He was detained for up to 48 hours and will be transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, along with a criminal complaint, the announcement adds.
