Raska and Prizren’s fired bishop Artemije passed away today. According to the first news they received in the Serbian Orthodox Church, the former bishop was a heart patient and did not die from the consequences of the coronavirus, “Blic” has learned.
However, according to sources in Valjevo, where the former bishop lived in recent years, he had Kovid19. Today, due to his deteriorating health, he should have been transferred to Belgrade. According to these complaints, Radosavljević (85) died in the ambulance of the Valjevo Health Center, which transferred him to the “Dragiša Mišović” Clinical Hospital for treatment. The former bishop was previously treated for seven days in the infectious department of the Valjevo hospital.
The former bishop is the only one who was removed from office in the recent history of the Serbian Orthodox Church and whose rank was revoked. During the life of Patriarch Pavle, the late Patriarch Irinej, then Bishop of Nis, was sent to Kosovo and Metohija to verify and report on the situation in the Diocese.
Initially, the retirement and later the dismissal were carried out at the choice of Patriarch Irinej. At that time, his move was valued as brave and daring, but also that a hierarch who does not push problems under the rug ascended to the throne of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church removed the retired bishop of Raska and Prizren, Artemije, on November 19, 2010, exactly ten years ago.
The takeover of the Diocese, which was divided, lasted days and the police also participated. The followers of Artemije occupied various monasteries. The trouble around the former bishop started when it was determined that the SMS money for Kosovo and Metohija was disappearing.
In recent years, Artemije has lived in Lelić, where he and his followers even built a “religious” building, posing as “the bishop of Raska and Prizren in exile.”
