They claim that the Serbian Orthodox Church, through the priest Jovan Plamenac, dug the grave of the metropolitan of the canonically unrecognized Montenegrin Orthodox Church without authorization and illegally.

Meanwhile, priest Jovan Plamenac gave a statement to the Bar police as a citizen, Vijesti reports.

During the protest, which ended around 4 pm, the president of the Association of Crimeans, Jovan Lekic, said that people had gathered to protest as “vandal, anti-Christian and anti-civilization act” like Crmnicans and Montenegrins.

“I would like to believe that this is an isolated case, but history teaches us that it is not,” Lekic said.

The vicar of the episcopate in the Metropolitanate de Montenegro y el Litoral, Methodius, claimed that a cross and an inscription should have been placed on the tomb, where the metropolitan Arsenija Plamenac is supposed to lie, and that the plaque was erected to determine whether someone more was buried there.

He said that the sisters, the clergy and the PCM have been taking care of the monastery for decades, and that everything must be done to improve and not desecrate the sanctuary.

The grave of Metropolitan Arsenij Plamenac was desecrated and damaged yesterday in Brčeli (Crmnica). The Upper Brceli Monastery is under the control of the Serbian Orthodox Church – the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Litoral.

Priest arrested

Bar police arrested two people on suspicion of serious injury, Montenegrin police announced today.

The police do not name the detainees, only declare that the cleric JP (65) and KP (34) damaged the headstone and the graves, and they will be brought before the competent prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bar, together with a criminal report .

Montenegrin media report that it is the priest Jovan Plamenac and his son Krsta.

According to him, information was collected from various citizens and people of the church. “Since, as suspected, these two people committed a crime within the monastery, after the competent institutions declare the condition of this monastery as a cultural asset, the competent prosecutor will be informed and the possible existence of another crime will be declared.” in relation to the suspects, “police said in a statement.

Methods: The intention was to mount a cross, not tensions.

The vicar bishop of the Metropolitanate de Montenegro y el Litoral, Methodius, said today that a combination of clumsy circumstances generated tension and that the intention was to place a cross on the tomb where the Metropolitan of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church Arsenija Plamenac was buried.

He said that on the occasion of the protest of the inhabitants of the village of Brčela in Crmnica, and for the bloodshed from the tomb of Metropolitan Arsenij Plamenac in the Brčela monastery.

Bishop Metodije explains that it was planned to put an inscription on the site of the tomb, but for it to be done, it was necessary to know if only Plamenac or someone else rests in that place, reports the RTCG portal.

According to him, all that was done was to improve the site of the monastery, not desecrate it, which is why the plaque was erected.

“This is a time when tensions are less necessary,” Metodije said.

Speaking about the protest by the locals, Metodije estimated that there were probably people on the side of the protests, not just the villagers.

Locals protested today, claiming that the Serbian Orthodox Church, through priest Jovan Plamenac, dug the grave of the canonically unrecognized Montenegrin Orthodox Church metropolitan without authorization and illegally.

Due to the desecration of the grave, three inspectors visited the site this morning.

The Upper Brceli Monastery is under the control of the Serbian Orthodox Church – the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Litoral.

Krivokapić: Prosecuting those responsible for desecrating the grave

The president for the composition of the new Montenegrin government, Zdravko Krivokapić, today strongly condemned the desecration of the tomb of Metropolitan Arsenij Plamenac at the gate of the Gornji Brčeli monastery and said those responsible should be brought to justice.

Krivokapić told Antena M that the desecration of any object, especially a sacred one in Montenegro, is like an attack on a shrine, reports RTCG.

“Each of these monuments is, first and foremost, personally, the attitude of each individual towards his family. I think this is something that should not happen in Montenegro. Those who do that cannot be justified by anything,” Krivokapic told Antena M.

He stressed that the protection of sacred buildings should be the general position in Montenegro and said that the competent authorities should take all possible measures.

“I have no power or authority to do anything at this time, but I believe that everything should be clearly prosecuted. Anything that someone has done wrong should be prosecuted according to the law, no matter who it is. We should start with another story, that the law is above each man and each individual, regardless of their name and who they are, ”concluded Krivokapić.
