The professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Belgrade, Danica Popović, who stole her late colleague’s translation and signed it as her own, tried to save and protect Milojko Arsić and Ivan Vujačić from punishment, reveals Kurir. By the way, Vujacic and Arsic are closely related to the Democratic Party (DS), the former as a member of this party and the latter as a member of the Democratic Civic Club in the DS.
A set of terms
According to our source, they, as members of the Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Economics, tried to deceive the members of the Teaching-Scientific Council, which, as a superior instance, decides the sanction for Popović. More precisely, they wanted to save her from public condemnation, which by all accounts pursues her as punishment for plagiarism.
– Professors Vujacic Arsic wholeheartedly wanted to defend and protect Popovic, despite the fact that the Expert Commission ruled that his work was plagiarism. Thus, in their opinion, the Ethics Commission, in which they are, avoided using the term “plagiarism” for their work, and has already pointed out “the non-academic behavior of Professor Popović” on several occasions. Due to the mitigating part, that is, the week, the commission proposed to the dean of the Faculty of Economics to impose a public reprimand on Popović, which is a lighter sanction than a measure of public condemnation, and read in the next Teaching Council- Scientist before all the teachers that Danica Popović abused the author’s work. Babić – says our source.
Arsić declined to comment on this information yesterday, stating that he can only do so after the Scientific Council session. We couldn’t get to Vujacic’s comment.
Bad direction
Aleksandar Jaksic, the plagiarist for plagiarism of Danica Popovic, explains to Kurir that Vujacic and Arsic tried to deceive the members of the Teaching-Scientific Council, without informing them that the Expert Commission explicitly stated that the two translations were identical, even when the original books text varies.
– If they had said that, they would have had to propose a measure of public condemnation and manifest the indisputable plagiarism of Danica Popović. Imagine those people talking and deciding on morality and academic integrity? Politicians without morals and personal integrity cannot question the integrity of the Faculty of Economics – concludes Jaksic. Let us remind you that Popović presented the translation of Dominique Salvatore’s “International Economics” textbook as his own work, although he also took the part that Babić translated. The software for determining plagiarism showed that 70 percent of Popović’s translations were literally taken from Babić.
