Epidemiologist Predrag Kon warned today that the number of deaths will increase and that it is completely mathematically clear.

– It will only arrive in a couple of weeks, but that is also a question, because that mortality is gradually increasing afterwards. Every effort should be made to slow down the activity of the virus as much as possible. We’ll see that in the next few weeks and that number may be in the triple digits – Kon said.

He also referred to today’s crisis staff session, noting that one of the main topics will be the transition to online teaching in Serbian schools.

– The crisis headquarters meeting is scheduled due to the epidemiological situation. It should be clear that we are not talking about the completion of the schools work, but about a short-term transition, just one week, to online classes. Nothing more than that. There is the impression that a great decision is expected, but it is not about that. As for the winter holidays, keep talking about it. It is necessary to prevent the interference of influenza and covid and to make a small gap because the flu has not yet started – said Dr. Kon adding that they should hear about the current problems that are happening now and connect with institutions and capacities.

The epidemiologist also explained that important topics will be vaccines against the coronavirus and analyzes the implementation of the measures prescribed so far, but also the evaluation of the situation.

– We need to assess the situation, because there is a significant slowdown of the virus in Belgrade. The virus spread from Belgrade to other parts of Serbia, says Kon.

When asked how he views this situation in a positive light and as an “overflow”, while his colleague from the Crisis Team, Dr. Srdja Jankovic, believes that the epidemic is increasing, Kon diplomatically replied that they were both right in some way. .

– These are not the consequences of the measurements, this is a natural flow, only a week has passed and we will only see the real results next week – said the epidemiologist.
