The situation in Serbia is very serious and the number of new infected with coronavirus is expected to increase by the end of the week, says the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Đerlek, adding that the measures should be toughened, but not they should consider drastically.
He stated that the hospital cannot be opened indefinitely, as well as that there are patients suffering from other diseases.
He points out that there are six kovid hospitals in Belgrade (as of today KBC Zemun is fully on the kovid system), plus a temporary hospital in the Arena, and that everything is filling up fast.
“We do not have a magic wand so that we can solve everything quickly, but we will not give up. We have to understand that we are fighting a cruel disease, disciplining ourselves and doing what is expected of us,” Djerlek said. As he says, the epidemic should not be politicized and he tells the opposition that this is not a fight for elections, but for life in Serbia.
“Today we have a lot of verbal violence in public transport,” why does he and why does he not wear a mask? “We must warn the opposition that this is not a fight for elections but for life in Serbia,” he said. He affirms that he encourages the reform of the Law for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, which will toughen criminal policy because, in his opinion, it is the only way to “bring order” to an arrogant group of individuals who persistently violate the measures .
“We will not allow the health system to collapse”, Djerlek said, adding that masks, distance and avoiding meetings are currently the only form of protection against the virus. He expects a certain amount of the coronavirus vaccine to arrive in Serbia by the end of the year and for a more serious contingent of 350,000 doses to arrive by the end of March.
Vaccination: first health workers “First, health workers, the army, the police, the chronically ill will be vaccinated. We will have to fight against the crown also in 2021, “he said.
Health workers will also receive a one-time state aid of 10,000 dinars, and Đerlek says that in this way the state has shown respect for health workers.
“Those 10,000 dinars is not something that will solve the problem for everyone, but it is important that someone pays attention, because they are on the front line, risking their lives, but also the lives of their families,” Djerlek said.
