BELGRADE – Today, Serbia faced an increasing number of people infected with Kovid 19 in one day: 1,053, and the media is speculating about the introduction of new measures to suppress the spread of the virus.
Epidemiologists have been warning for weeks that the dramatic increase in the number of patients from other parts of Europe could be “replicated” in Serbia, which has held out so far, but despite all the calls for “crown numbers”, our country has gone growing exponentially in recent days.
This growth could seriously jeopardize the functioning of the health system, that is, lead to an overload of hospital capacities.
Given that it is believed that the spread of the coronavirus is mainly contributed by young people, who are the ones who least respect the measures and are the ones who collect the most, the next epidemiological measure, according to media reports, There could be a new restriction on the operation of the catering facilities until 8 or 9 pm.
The question is whether this measure would be valid for the entire country or only for the major critical points.
Also, one of the first next steps might be introduction of PCR at the entrance of the country, which was mentioned as a possibility last week by epidemiologist Dr. Branislav Tiodorović.
Crisis Staff mentioned on several occasions that the quarantine measure was not considered, but Tiodorović said yesterday that, if the 100 cases per 100,000 citizens are exceeded, the stricter measures should be considered.
Retired epidemiologist Radmilo Petrović declared today that the peak of the third peak of the epidemic will likely be in November. He believes that the work of the catering facilities should be further limited.
“Their working hours should be limited to 6 in the afternoon, and those who want to, continue drinking at home and having fun,” Petrovic said with resignation.
