The coronavirus can be present on the skin and body fluids of the deceased, so according to experts, it is extremely important to follow procedures and regulations regarding the burial of a person who died from kovid 19!
The pandemic-specific burial method further increases the cost of burial, because the dead are first placed in a tin and then in a wooden coffin. In addition, funeral companies have additional costs, which allocate significantly more funds for employee protective equipment, as well as for disinfection of cemeteries.
Dr. Goran Belojevic, a professor at the Belgrade Faculty of Medicine, told Kurir Television that the burial of those killed by kovid is done exactly the same as with those killed by smallpox.
– The virus can also be transmitted from the deceased. It can be on the surface of the skin or in the body fluids of the deceased, so it is necessary that all the dead who have a diagnosis of U07.1 or U07.2, which is the code of kovida 19, be placed in a tin coffin as soon as possible, without carrying a corpse. so in wood – explains Dr. Belojevic and adds that the virus, in case procedures are not followed, can infect the soil and groundwater.
He adds that this form of burial is a double expense for the family in the first place.
– As much as a wooden coffin costs, a tin one also costs. I don’t know if the state will reimburse it later, but the family has to cover it first. If it’s 15,000 dinars for wood, then that’s a lot for tin. However, this is simply a must. Now is the time of death and this virus is the embodiment of the devil. And when people die en masse from a contagious disease, then everything, even the funeral, must conform to that – says Dr. Belojevic, adding that they understand that it is difficult for families because they cannot say goodbye to the deceased.
Vesna Prćić cemeteries are also disinfected
Vesna Prćić, director of JKP “Pogrebno” in Subotica, told Kurir television that the business of that funeral company was affected by additional costs during the epidemic.
– The HTZ equipment that we use for protection is disposable. We also get significant amounts of sanitizers so everyone at the funeral can sanitize their hands, and new during the epidemic is the constant sanitization of cemeteries.
