Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said last night that the number of newly infected people in the country is worrying and that today’s meeting of crisis personnel is necessary to determine new measures, and stated that the introduction of mandatory PCR tests for all who enter to Serbia is safe.

An immunologist, also a member of the crisis staff, Srdja Jankovic, told Tanjug yesterday that the epidemiological situation in the country was being monitored and that further action would be taken accordingly, but that measures such as movement restrictions were now not being considered.

Jankovic said that one of the possibilities is to introduce a mandatory PCR test to enter Serbia, but also noted that more will be known about it after today’s crisis staff meeting.

According to data released yesterday at 3 p.m., 512 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Serbia in 24 hours, which is the highest number of new cases in one day since the start of the pandemic.

In the same period, one person died as a result of the virus, a total of 781 since the start of the pandemic.

There are 490 people in the hospital, 27 of whom are wearing respirators.
