THE CRISIS HEADQUARTERS WILL NOT ACCEPT IT: Tiodorović on reception, this is how 2021 will start for us

Certainly we will not receive the New Year in taverns, clubs or cafes, it is the decision of the medical part of the Crisis Staff, and the final measures for the welcome will be taken on Monday or Tuesday.

According to the ads, restaurants and cafes will be open until 5 or 8 at night, and if the number of infected continues to drop, they may be open until 10 at night.

By the way, yesterday a new measure was adopted so that this weekend all stores, shopping centers, hairdressers, beauty salons and restaurants will reopen until 8:00 p.m.

Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović points out that there is no possibility for the citizens of Serbia to welcome the new year, 2021, in a tavern or any other organized reception.

– Postpone the celebrations to defeat this contagion! We certainly won’t celebrate the New Year like we did before. The medical side of the crisis staff will not accept that clubs, restaurants and cafes are open until 1 or 2 o’clock after midnight. We must not take risks and allow meetings, because that would make the already dire situation even worse. The epidemiological picture is a little better than it was, the numbers are slowly decreasing, but we are far from where we would like to be. Our hospitals are still full, especially in the large clinical centers in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, says Dr. Tiodorović.

He adds that there is no need to prohibit movement on New Year’s Eve, but all measures must be respected.

– We can welcome the new year 2021, but at home, with my family, without a large crowd. We can even receive it in winter, in a hotel, but we must respect all epidemiological measures. Mask, distance and without great concentrations, that’s the most important thing! We would all like to celebrate the New Year like we used to, but we must not play games. The exact length of the working day on December 31 and the first days of January will be decided on Monday. Only when we see the epidemiological parameters of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, will we have enough material to make the best objective decision – emphasized Tiodorović.

According to him, the catering facilities will most likely run until 8 pm on December 31, while everything in Serbia will be closed on January 1.

– On January 2, only grocery stores and food deliveries will work, as well as pharmacies and pumps in the refueling part – says Tiodorović.

Dr. Mihailo Ille from Kovid Hospital in Batajnica warns that the mass gathering for New Year’s Eve will only make the situation worse with the number of people infected.

– Who wants to stay connected to the devices, feel free to celebrate in great company! I don’t know why it’s so difficult for everyone to be a little patient. Help us, because this is how you help yourself! We have to be responsible. Our hospitals are filling up. We work seven days a week, eight to 12 hours a day. Without a rest. We are paid for this work, but not for such conditions, not for human selfishness – warns Dr. Ille, who believes that all measures should be in effect during the New Year holidays.
