The cornerstone was laid by the Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, together with the Mayor of Obrenovac Miroslav Čučković and the director of the company “RC Europe” Michael Augustin,

On that occasion, Vesić said that the construction of this shopping center shows that Serbia is a good place to invest, reports Beoinfo.

“This is not the first investor who says that this is his second, third, fourth or fifth project and that he will continue to invest in Serbia. This is what we have been fighting for all these years, for the state to change its attitude towards investors. And this investment is noticeable, because this company is investing 7.7 million euros here, which it could have done in another country as well, “said Vesic.

It indicated that the City of Belgrade, as of October 31, issued construction permits for almost 883,500 square meters.

The City of Belgrade, independently of the municipalities and the Republic, has issued a total of 164 building permits and 881 location conditions. This means that as a city, we will reissue building permits for more than one million square meters for the third year in a row. When we add in what the Republic and municipalities are doing, there will be building permits of probably around one and a half million square meters, Vesić said, noting that this is an indicator that the country is developing.

He emphasized that the number of cranes shows whether a country is developing or not, adding that he was especially happy that Belgrade is a city of cranes where you can see that it is being built at every turn.

“Our obligation is to provide employment to people,” Vesić said, adding that 191,000 new jobs have been created in Belgrade since 2012. As he noted, it is important to invest in every part of Belgrade, because Belgrade must become a city for all citizens who live in it, regardless of whether they are in the city center or in the suburbs. “It is also important that suburban municipalities get shopping centers where fellow citizens can shop, but also spend time socializing,” said the deputy mayor.

Miroslav Čučković expressed his satisfaction with the construction of the shopping center, stating that in this way he continues with a series of promises kept in Obrenovac.

“Construction sites are the area where we best manage and we are proud of the fact that Obrenovac is one of the largest construction sites in Belgrade and Serbia. The locomotive of Belgrade’s development is here and I am especially glad that there are none construction machine of any kind without being employed at Obrenovac, “said Cuckovic.

Michael Augustine said that this is his fourth shopping center in Serbia, and said the other three have already been completed, in Vrsac, Kraljevo and Uzice.

He specified that the Obrenovac shopping center will have about 8,300 square meters, 20 shops and about 200 parking spaces.

“The plan is to open this shopping center in May next year. We are happy that with this investment, Obrenovac and its surroundings will get 250, maybe 300 new jobs,” Augustin said.
