Stevan Bakić, the mayor of Subotica, made the decision today to declare a state of emergency in Subotica on November 26 due to the worsening epidemiological situation.
The decisions and acts of the Municipal Headquarters for Emergency Situations taken so far remain in force.
The decision establishes that a state of emergency is declared for the purposes of a more efficient implementation of protection measures, as well as the protection of the life and health of the population.
According to data from the Subotica Public Health Institute, 822 people are positive for the corona virus in the city, of which the highest number so far has been registered in the last 24 hours: 94. 108 patients are being treated in the parts of Kovid of the General Hospital.
Subotica Public Health Institute epidemiologist Dr. Nebojsa Bohucki told the media that the epidemiological situation in Subotica is catastrophic, a common term for a situation in which a contagious disease is widespread. According to him, that means that the border has been crossed when there is no further evaluation of the epidemiological situation.
More and more people in hospitals
The epidemiologist on duty in Subotica and the deputy director of the hospital, Gordana Krtinić, said today that the epidemiological situation is extremely unfavorable, and even critical.
– The number of cases in the hospital grows. Almost 40 new hospitalized yesterday. He is currently being treated. These are moderate to severe clinical pictures. There are 13 patients in kovid’s intensive care unit and 12 are on mechanical ventilation, Krtinić said.
He also noted that the number of examinations in kovid dispensaries is growing.
Yesterday, there were 93 crowns newly infected with the virus in Subotica.
However, as Dr. Bohucki explained, there is no reason to panic, because we are talking about the disease and not its aggravation, that is, the clinical picture is more difficult.
In contrast, most of the 822 active patients are treated at home and have a mild or mild clinical picture.
– So the disease has always been like this, but thanks to massive tests with rapid antigen tests, we discovered the real situation. This was expected and was completely normal for a single drop infection at its peak due to the cold period. The number of patients is growing and will be in the next period, but when we reach the maximum, a decrease in the number of infected is inevitable – says Dr. Bohucki.
