In recent years, we have become used to the fact that the capital is already heavily decorated for the New Year holidays. Although the decoration of the city was late this year, the center of Belgrade shone tonight with a million colored lamps.
This year, the early decoration of the capital was abandoned because, as Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić previously said, there weren’t as many tourists visiting Belgrade.
The New Year’s lighting and decoration installation began on the first of this month, and will be done partially, so little by little all parts of the city will shine.
Goran Vesić announced that the whole of Belgrade will shine in the Christmas spirit later this month and the centers of the suburban municipalities on December 10th. Vesić said the monthly New Year’s complete lighting job costs around 600,000 dinars, or around 5,000 euros.
Unfortunately, this year, due to the epidemiological situation of the square, and apparently New Year’s Eve will not be organized in the bars either, but at least then the people of Belgrade will enjoy a part of the festive atmosphere.
