In Belgrade, currently the largest hotbed of coronavirus in Serbia, strict controls on compliance with anti-epidemiological measures continue. Eight teams of health, tourism and market inspections with the communal militia visited up to 164 facilities in the capital on the night between Saturday and Sunday, where they wrote 20 fines, and Kurir reporters saw what the control looks like in some of the most popular cafes and restaurants in the city.
On the promenade by the river, in front and in clubs, men in expensive suits, women in bright dresses and fur coats, security gathered at the entrance, strictly controlling reservations … At first glance, a very normal night .
However, with the appearance of sanitary inspectors from the Ministry of Health and the communal militia, the environment changes significantly and becomes more tense and nervous. However, none of the owners or managers caused problems when inspectors kindly asked them to verify compliance with sanitary measures.
No omissions were found in most of the premises, the staff attended to the guests with masks, disinfectants and behavioral warnings during the epidemic were displayed everywhere, while the allowed number of guests was not exceeded, depending on the size of the premises . The inspectors commented among themselves that the situation this weekend is much better than what their colleagues found in the previous one, and that the controls and the calls from the media are obviously beginning to pay off. By the way, the fines for not wearing a mask for an individual range between 5,000 and 150,000 dinars, while for legal persons they can reach up to half a million.
Zoran Radojicic
Tighter measures
Belgrade mayor and crisis staff member Zoran Radojicic said that the epidemic has its own dynamics and behavior can lower the growth curve, and announced a possible strengthening of epidemiological measures. – Parties, celebrations and other celebrations are the biggest source of infection. As expected, Belgrade has the highest number of infected, in the largest cities, where contacts are closer, coordination and control are more difficult.
164 objects were inspected in one night, and 16 were written, plus four penalties, because infractions were found. Two shopping centers were also inspected, and in the previous week, nine shopping centers, 168 stores and 55 catering establishments were inspected and 14 fines were issued. Everything we do, we do for the health of the people, but also to preserve the health system – said Dr. Radojicic for RTS, adding that “probably the measures will have to be strengthened.”
