Bojan shared what happened to his three-month-old baby on the social network Facebook, and many say that this is not an isolated case, so accidents like this, incredible as they sound, happen to young children more often than what we think.
The baby’s father, Bojan Stanisavljević, told Blic that he took his son, a three-month-old baby, to the doctor on Monday at 4 p.m. for one reason: The hair around his toe was tangled.
– It stuck out near the hair, he squeezed so that the finger began to turn red. They (doctors from the Sopot health center) tried to untangle it and in the end they pulled that area and pulled out the hair, washed the wound, bandaged it and told us to come for a checkup on Wednesday afternoon and not touch anything – he said which is a father.
As he further states, on Tuesday, when the boy woke up, the father unwrapped the bandage, but the finger exploded even more.
– I put the child in the car, go back to Sopot. Another doctor. I go in and tell what happened yesterday and immediately ask for directions to Belgrade. They say, “Wait until the doctor sees it.” He looks at it and says: “There is nothing here”, he tells us and tells us: “Go home, there is no need to go to Belgrade, the crown and everything else” – says the father.
They go home, however, as he says, the boy cries again.
– I turn the car around and head to Belgrade. I arrive in Tirševo, they receive me without instructions, and then a completely different story: “What have you been waiting for until now?” I said they sent us home and we came alone – says Bojan Stanisavljević.
They go, he says, straight to the surgeon, where the doctor unrolls 4.5 circles of hair and says, Stanisavljević states: “I won’t tell you what would happen until tomorrow afternoon.”
– They keep the mother and the child in the hospital and visit them every hour and monitor the condition of the finger and, normally, the swelling has subsided in just one night – said Bojan.
Bojan also says that the baby is fine now and announces a lawsuit against the doctor at the Sopot Health Center. The director of the Sopot Health Center, Dr. Bogdan Koroman, confirms that the baby was admitted to this institution on Monday at 5 in the afternoon.
– The baby was received by the pediatrician Dr. Snezana Jovic, who is the doctor chosen by the child. The child was examined, he had no temperature. Hair removal was attempted in the ambulance itself, but as I was told, the hair was shiny and could not be seen accurately. The finger was then bandaged and the child was returned home with a recommendation to the parents that in case the condition worsened, they should go to the ambulance for a referral to a surgeon – Dr. Koroman said.
He adds that the parents came to the clinic again with the baby on Tuesday morning, and that they were greeted by another pediatrician, Dr. Zorka Denić.
– The doctor examined the baby and said that the child was behaving normally, he had no fever. He included antibiotics for the child for prevention, but he personally did not think that additional intervention was necessary at the time. She told the parents that the baby should be checked, considering the child’s chosen pediatrician worked the next day, says Dr. Koroman for “Blic” and concludes:
– Everything is verifiable on the cardboard. On the other hand, if the pediatrician’s assessment was correct, I, as the director, cannot go in and evaluate professional matters. It is known who is in charge of assessing the medical error.
The director also highlights that the Health Center has only two pediatricians, who are in charge of the entire municipality, and a general practitioner who works exclusively with school children.
