The curfew is not a magic bullet and that was not the topic of today’s crisis staff session. But it was a matter to break contact. The breakdown of contacts is the only remedy to reduce the figures, said today the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar, before the delivery of equipment and ambulances to our country by the United Nations for Development (UNDP).
– The curfew is not a magic solution and it may be something that sounds, but I would like all of us to understand if it is necessary to introduce the curfew, without being able to understand that you have to break contact. That is the essence of everything – Loncar said.
He noted that curfew today was not the topic of the crisis staff session, but, he says, it is always a matter of breaking contact.
– Without breaking contacts, especially now that the virus has entered the family, we cannot obtain a better result and reduce the increase in the number of infected. We can call it what we want, the breakdown of contacts is the only cure for this situation – said Lončar.
As you said, we are now in the phase where the situation is assessed on a daily basis.
– We assess the situation daily. Literally for the next day. It depends on the numbers. We are at the stage where the virus has entered the family. That is a big difference compared to what was in the previous period, he added.
“The problem is in Belgrade”
Speaking about the situation at the hospital, Lončar announced that Niška Banja will also become part of the Kovid system.
– As of this morning, all KCS pulmonology and thoracic surgery has gone into the covid system. As of this morning, we have opened all the pulmonology and thoracic surgery in the Clinical Center. We transferred patients from thoracic to cardiology and from pneumology to B. Interna. And Niška Banja will become a kovid hospital. Furthermore, Leskovac hospital will be ready for admission. We have enough places in temporary hospitals in Nis and Kragujevac. The problem is in Belgrade – Loncar said.
“200,000 doses of the flu vaccine are coming”
The Minister of Health also referred to the situation of influenza vaccines.
– We have enough vaccinations for the seasonal flu. Another 200,000 doses are yet to arrive in the next few days, he said.
We remind you that today a session of the Crisis Staff was held, in which the possible introduction of new measures was discussed. The measures that could be introduced will be known after 3 in the afternoon, according to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and you can read about what was discussed in a special news item. .
We remind you that yesterday the highest number of infected people since the start of the pandemic was registered in Serbia, 6,109, and 29 people died. According to some experts, the number of infected people may be ten times higher, if the estimate of the number of undetected cases is taken into account.
In Serbia, as of Tuesday, November 17, measures are in force restricting the work of catering services, shops, shopping centers, from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am, and night transport has been abolished in Belgrade .
