The number of people suffering from the corona virus is decreasing, Secretary of State for the Health Ministry, Mirsad Đerlek, told Novo jutro TV Pink.
He mentioned that the reduction in the number of new patients was caused by the fact that the public adhered to the measures and that reckless actions, such as organized celebrations, could compromise the good result to which we advance.
Djerlek said the best news for citizens ahead of the New Year is that the vaccine has arrived and the immunization process has begun. He also noted that the vaccine is a powerful weapon to resist the cruel third wave, but also noted that the health system remains under great pressure.
– The number of patients is decreasing, but the worrying thing is that now we have 9,732 patients in hospitals, the health system continues to suffer – Đerlek said.
As he explained, the bacterial infection is resolved with antibiotics, but the only cure for a viral infection is prevention, that is, a vaccine. He pointed out the importance of vaccination and asked citizens to respond. He says that those 700 who have been vaccinated so far are monitored 24 hours a day, and that so far no serious side effects have been noticed, and that everything is going in the best possible order.
– It would be a shame to spoil the excellent result that we are advancing with some reckless moves – said Djerlek.
Regarding the new strain of the vaccine, Đerlek says that at the moment it is such an attitude that the existing vaccine also affects him and that for now we should not arouse panic about it, although it is true that it is 70% more contagious, but neither more difficult. clinical pictures.
Djerlek also says that it is realistic that in addition to the Pfizer vaccine, Sputnik V and the Chinese vaccine can be expected in Serbia in January, noting that all vaccines are fantastic.
– It is important that we vaccinate ourselves as much as possible and create herd immunity. All vaccines are great and the one that comes first should be used. There is no need to oppose that, the vaccine saves lives, the crown is evil – said Djerlek.
KBC Zvezdara Crisis Staff Dr Dejan Trailov says that there is a slight relaxation of the third wave, but that it refers more to the health system than to citizens.
– Citizens should not understand what I said, so they should no longer take care to respect the measures, on the contrary, it means that they worked well and that it should continue like this, we are far from the end, but we are on the right track – said Dr. Trailov.
