Three teenagers were trapped on a rock yesterday when they went to the “Eagle Battlefield” lookout in Fruška Gora. With the help of rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS), they were soon evacuated successfully and all three were rescued without injury.
As told to “Blic” from the GSS, the three minors went to the “Eagle’s Battlefield” lookout, but soon realized that they couldn’t actually go down the rock they were climbing.
– They walked for about half an hour, fortunately they couldn’t get very far because that terrain is very inconvenient to climb. At one point, they called our service because they were practically stuck on a rock. It’s good they had our phone number, they told “Blic” from GSS.
Rescuers at the Novi Sad station, after going to the field, had to hang vertically from a rock in highly inaccessible terrain, but the evacuation, which lasted about an hour, was carried out safely.
– The rescuers did not have a call for such an intervention for a long time, which is very inconvenient, because they had to be hooked vertically, but everything went well – it was said from the GSS.
The Mountain Rescue Service calls on all lovers of nature and mountaineering to inform themselves well about the place they want to visit before each climb and delve into nature.
– Some terrains are very uncomfortable for climbing and if people are not professional mountaineers they should not travel on these paths. It is very important that they find alternative and easier ways to get to the desired location, they added from the GSS.
