The police arrested a doctor, a specialist from the Vojvodina Clinical Center IE (44), on suspicion of receiving a bribe for operations outside the waiting list, and ZS (60), suspected of committing the crime of bribery in mediation, announced today the Ministry of the Interior.
“Members of the Ministry of the Interior, the Anti-Corruption Department and the Internal Control Sector, in cooperation with the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption of the Novi Sad Superior Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a doctor from the Vojvodina Clinical Center IE (1976) on suspicion of committing the crime of accepting bribes, “the statement said.
The police also reportedly “arrested ZS (1960), a suspect who committed the crime of bribery in mediation, and brought criminal charges in ordinary proceedings against three other persons, one of whom was a police officer.”
The IE suspect is accused of taking a total of 4,200 euros from three patients for surgery, in addition to the waiting list. It is suspected that he took 1,500 euros for two operations, while he requested and took 1,200 for the third, the Interior Ministry said.

Criminal charges in the ordinary procedure on suspicion of committing criminal acts of bribery will be brought against two people, while criminal charges will be brought against a forty-eight-year-old police officer on suspicion that he committed the crime of bribery in mediation.
Suspects IE and Ž. S. was detained for up to 48 hours and, along with a criminal report, will be taken to the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption of the Novi Sad Superior Prosecutor’s Office, the announcement says.
