Beliefs vary from one country to another, so in Japan it is celebrated from the morning. The ritual begins with cleaning the house, to remove everything from the old year and make room for the new and the good. At midnight everything sounds, but literally. So the bells ring 108 times to drive away all the bad from the old year. In Germany, noise is also made at midnight to drive away evil spirits, and Danes break dishes in front of the house for the same reason. In Brazil you wear white, because that color protects you from evil, while in Argentina everyone wears pink.
So everyone has their own little superstitions, but these are superstitious. You will find them in all the languages of the world.
1) BE CAREFUL WHO YOU LOVE FOR THE NEW YEAR
Celebrate midnight with dear people and may the first kisses of 2015 be with them, a sign that good relationships will continue next year. Failure to do so will disrupt important relationships in your life.
It is best to wish a happy new year to a person of the opposite sex, because by doing so you are invoking happiness in love.
2) RETURN DEBTS AND PAY BILLS
To welcome the “clean” first of January with no debt, it is believed that paying off all debts will make the next year financially successful.
3) OPEN THE WINDOWS
Let the old year be easier and the new come home with good changes.
4) WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR WITH NEW CLOTHES AND RED UNDERWEAR
Red and new bring happiness, so give them a call on New Year’s Eve.
5) ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW YEAR, DO “SOMETHING LITTLE”
This is believed to require a lot of work in the new year. There is also a superstition that says not much is done because too much work on the first day of the new year brings failure.
6) DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM THE HOUSE
Don’t throw anything out of the house, because that would cause money to flow out of your home, and you certainly don’t want that.
7) BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK ANYTHING
A broken glass or plate can lead to an accident, so be careful.
8) DO NOT WASH DISHES OR LAUNDRY ON JANUARY 1
It is believed that violating this rule can lead to someone “disappearing” from the home in the next year.
9) HAPPY CHILDREN WERE BORN ON JANUARY 1
Babies born on the first day of the new year are accompanied by great happiness in life.
