The immunologist and member of the Crisis Staff for the fight against the coronavirus, Srdja Jankovic, said today that the medical part of the Crisis Staff had already requested that flights from Great Britain be suspended due to a new strain of the coronavirus that appeared in that country.
When it will be implemented depends on other issues, Janković said.
He told H1 that Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said that our international contractual obligations should be considered and then state authorities would react.
Regarding the measures for the New Year, Janković noted that it is not yet known what they will be, because the measures are not taken in advance but in real time.
“I think none of the doctors will say that it is possible and conceivable to celebrate large numbers of people, and none of us will suggest that the ban on gatherings before the New Year be questioned,” Janković noted.
He said that the position of all the medical part of the crisis personnel was that there were no conditions to make the measures more flexible and that the working hours of some facilities were extended at the request of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić.
– Following the exchange of arguments, such a decision was made and should not be presented as a waiver of human health. Doctors will not take care of the economy, but those who take care of the economy have their arguments and we exchange them. It’s not our idea that cafes work at all, but action needs to be taken by crisis personnel as a whole, and that doesn’t mean that any of our health is second, of course it’s first – Janković pointed out.
He recalled that the most important measures have been in force for months and evaluated that they are not mentioned enough, and are the obligation to wear a mask, maintain distance and prohibition of meeting for more than five people, except in defined conditions.
