Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic today rejected accusations by the Vice President of the Freedom and Justice Party, Marinika Tepic, that the police covered up the brutal beating in Novi Sad for 19 days to help the suspect escape, saying that most of their accusations were “completely fabricated” and they were unaware of the procedures. .

Stefanović told Pink TV that the question arises whether such accusations should be denied every day, because even after showing evidence and data, “the lies are still made public.”

“All the procedure was done in accordance with what the Prosecutor’s Office ordered the Police,” he said.

According to him, the possible omissions in the work of the police and the prosecution have yet to be carried out by the Internal Control Sector and the Public Ministry of the Republic.

Stefanović said that the case of the beating occurred around 12:30 p.m. after midnight and that the case was reported the next day around 11 a.m., after which the police informed the prosecution “as soon as they received the knowledge and the doctor’s report on the injuries. “

“There were some doubts and I insisted, since it was a claim from the police, that those who acted that night should declare for that, that they should take the polygraph test, that the phone calls should be reviewed – did they call the prosecution at that time? ” said the minister.

He said there was no reason for anyone to protect the suspect from that crime.

“A complete build, and that continues with the set of builds that have been put in place in recent years,” said Stefanović.

Earlier today, the vice president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Marinika Tepic, expressed her suspicions that the police, the prosecution and the state leadership covered up the brutal beating in Novi Sad for 19 days to help suspect Ivan Kontic escape.

At a press conference in front of the Serbian Interior Ministry headquarters, Tepic handed over two official police notes to journalists, which were registered with the same number, and one of them claimed that on August 24 a nurse from the Center Vojvodina clinic informed the Interior Ministry about the beating of MM. (28) from Belgrade, that a patrol had been dispatched to interview him, that the injuries had not yet been determined and that they would continue with their work.

The second note was complemented with the fact that a serious bodily injury was established, but it was not until September 12, the day after the video was published, that the prosecutor reclassified the crime as attempted murder.
