VIENNA – New, stricter measures have come into effect in Austria since midnight in the fight against the coronary virus pandemic, which is closing the country again for the third time this year.
The third lock will last for a month, until January 26, but for those who will participate in the voluntary mass tests, the “unlocking” will be possible from January 18.
With the new lock, the all-day curfew came back into effect, and it is possible to leave home to buy daily necessities, go to the doctor, work, but also to help others, and walk or play sports individually for mental and physical health.
The strictest measures foresee a significant reduction in contacts, so that a household can have contact with only one person in another household.
This means that even for the New Year, it will not be possible to leave home without a valid reason, as well as celebrate with those who are not at home.
All stores, except grocery stores, drugstores, bakeries, butchers and the like, as well as pharmacies, are closed.
In addition, the services for cars and bicycles remain open.
Restaurants and hotels, as well as cultural institutions, remain closed.
In public places, the rule of one meter distance from other people is kept, and indoors, a mask should be worn.
In addition, until January 18, a stricter entry regime in Austria is in force, which provides for a mandatory ten-day quarantine, which can be interrupted by a negative test, but only after five days of isolation.
