The Belgrade High Prosecutor’s Office has brought an indictment against former soccer player Nikola Malbaša on suspicion that he stabbed Igor Nešković with a knife on 8 July, who suffered serious and life-threatening bodily injuries.
The defendant is charged with attempted murder, prosecution spokeswoman Irena Bjelos told Tanjug.
The accusation was presented to the High Court, which should examine it and make a decision on confirmation.
Malbasha was a fugitive for about 10 days before turning himself in to the police on July 19 and has been in custody ever since.
At the hearing at the Prosecutor’s Office at the end of July, he denied the crime.
As announced by the prosecution at the time, it is suspected that the former soccer player deliberately tried to take the life of Igor Nešković, who was damaged in his car, when he inflicted several serious bodily injuries on 8 July.
On the night of July 8, Neskovic was found in his car in Zemun with several stab wounds to the body. The bloody confrontation occurred on Bačka Street due to outstanding bills.
By the way, Malbashi is losing track in the media when his one-year contract with the team of Chinese double crown winner Shandong expired in 2008, which was then led by former black and white coach and now Serbian manager Ljubisa Tumbakovic.
In the 2003/2004 season, Malbaša played for Partizan in the Champions League, and in Humska’s team he came from Hajduk Kula.
