When asked if there is room for that in the Serbian budget, Vučić said that there is and that he always bets on the fact that we should not exceed the public friend level of 60 percent, which is the Maastricht criterion.

He pointed out that the wage increase will be such that it does not endanger the public debt, which, he says, the IMF warns about.
He recalled that the public debt when he became prime minister was up to 79 percent. The President pointed out that they are talking with the IMF to increase salaries in the public sector, they do not underestimate the risks they are talking about, but, he emphasizes, it is a sovereign decision of our country.
– That is our sovereign decision, but I do not want us not to have the support of the IMF, I want us to make the decision with the support of the IMF – said Vučić.
He recalled that the agreement with the IMF will expire soon in Serbia, but that he will immediately create a new one with that international institution because, he explains, it is a matter of security and a good position in the world financial market.

Following an online meeting with IMF representatives, Vučić said that raising salaries in the public sector would lead to that average, which, as he says, will not be in a large percentage as in previous years, but also in an increase at the minimum by 6.7 percent.
Vučić pointed out that from next year, pensions in our country will increase by 5.9 percent, as well as the minimum by 6.7 percent, but he did not specify how much the increase in salaries in the public sector will be. .
He also announced that the State will seek to help the private sector, which, he said, was also affected by the crisis caused by the pandemic, with new relief.
The president said that the IMF does not forecast that Italy will recover in 2024, it is similar, he adds, with France in 2022 that GDP will be plus one or more three, while for Serbia the estimate is plus 11.
