SOCIALISTS IN GOVERNMENT WITH TWO LESS MINORITIES? SPS is getting closer to continuing cooperation with SNS, but will not keep all seats

As things are now, instead of the current five, they will most likely get one or two fewer ministerial positions. Ivica Dacic and most likely Aleksandar Antic should remain in the ministerial presidency. In that case, the SPS leader would remain in the position of chief of diplomacy, while Antic would receive another assignment if Zorana Mihajlovic returns to the energy department.

The completion dates for the formation of new institutions have yet to be determined in detail, but, under one option, the election of the Speaker of Parliament could be on the Assembly’s agenda on Wednesday, October 14, and two days later, the Friday, the deputies could vote. and for the election of a new government.

According to our sources, the team led by Ana Brnabić will have significant surprises and new faces, and it is almost certain that the two new ministries, the Department of Human Rights, Gender Equality and Social Dialogue and the Department of Family, Children and Demography – staff a manager who so far has not held ministerial positions.

Milan Antonijevic from the Open Society Foundation is mentioned for the position of the human rights portfolio, but also Suzana Paunovic, who heads the Human Rights Office, and Brankica Jankovic, the commissioner for gender equality. The deputy director of the “Trampoline” Institute, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, and the SNS deputy, Marija Obradović, compete for the Ministry of Family Care.

Sinisa Mali, Branislav Nedimovic, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Zorana Mihajlovic secured safe places in the new government of the “old” cadres of progressives. Most likely, Mali will keep the finance department and may win the post of deputy prime minister. Nedimović remains in agriculture, while it is still unclear to Stefanović whether he will continue to lead the MUP or take over defense. It is still uncertain whether Mihajlovic will maintain construction, traffic and infrastructure or take over the power, which is currently run by Antic.

ANDJELKOVIC: Good wallets.

FOR POLITICAL analyst Dragomir Andjelkovic, the idea of introducing two new ministries makes sense:

– Demographics should be raised to the ministry level because that is the biggest problem for Serbia. As a nation, we are disappearing, each year 100,000 people die in our country and a maximum of 65,000 are born. It is also good that the existing Office for Human and Minority Rights, which according to many estimates is very efficient, is promoted to a ministry that, in addition to this, would also deal with the non-governmental sector and would try to orient the political processes towards the dialogue.

Dacic said that the Socialists had repeatedly stated that they were willing to continue cooperation with the ruling coalition, but that in consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, no personal solutions were discussed within the new government:

– Prime Minister-designate Brnabić will propose a cabinet and I look forward to further discussions on this. So far, they have been in the general plan, they have expressed their willingness to continue cooperation, and their modalities, divisions in the sense of “you will be this, you that” and how many ministries there will be, have not been discussed.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihajlovic said yesterday that she hopes the main progressives will soon discuss the composition of the new government:

– I have supported Vučić’s proposal that Ana Brnabić be appointed Prime Minister, because I believe in the decision of the president of the party of which I am a member. On the other hand, I think that very soon the issue will turn into something other than whether or not someone raised their hand for the proposal that Brnabic be prime minister, or if someone gave a hand or two for it. It is important, and President Vučić is guided by that, if the government can be efficient and produce quick results. There are no emotions, we are here to work for citizens.

With the election of Aleksandar Šapić, the leader of the SPAS, as president of the municipality of New Belgrade, the dilemma of whether he will also be one of the ministers has been partially resolved.
