Minister Mali said yesterday he received an “offer that is not rejected” from President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister-designate Ana Brnabić, saying that he will remain part of the new government.
– Last night I had a conversation with the prime minister and received an offer to continue in charge of the finance department. So yes, I will be part of the new government, and I am honored by that – said Mali, referring to the words of Aleksandar Šapić, with whom he met briefly before appearing on the show.
– It is important that we all come together, and I am glad that Šapić has decided to accept and that he has entered that single bloc. The reforms cannot stop, we have to fight and we have a very difficult year and a half ahead of us.
He pointed out that we will fight for all jobs and that we must continue the trend of economic growth.
– Just remember, until a few years ago we were among the last in terms of economic growth, and this difficult year we are the first. We have ambitious and well defined goals – said Mali.
He explained that there will be municipal elections in 2022, and that the state does not want to organize three different electoral campaigns and give money from the budget for that, and that is exactly why the elections were announced in a year and a half.
– The key is that all this happens in a moment, we don’t want to lose the whole year and spend money from the citizen budget.
Mali referred to the words of Dragan Djilas, who assures that Serbia’s debt is much higher than what was officially announced.
– Djilas has no idea about public finances and the way the economy works. Thanks to him for listing all the great projects that the Government has launched. So the debt is absolutely under control and citizens don’t have to worry about it. Public debt is an instrument for conducting economic policy – said the Minister, emphasizing that Serbia has 1,900 million direct public investments this year as well, representing an instrument for conducting economic policy.
He then spoke about the arrival of the US DFC, whose money will help in the development of micro, small and medium-sized companies, which will boost their liquidity during the epidemic.
– The Americans want to raise it to an even higher level. They want to extend the maturity of the loans they grant to small, micro and medium-sized companies. I hope it definitely starts by the end of the year. After negotiations in Washington, after just two weeks, they opened an office in Belgrade.
Mali emphasized that he hopes that the arrival of DFC will encourage other investors to come to our country.
– We want to build roads, new railways, to revitalize the country. We are absolutely fighting to reach the goal that by the end of 2025, the average salary in Serbia is 900 euros. They are ambitious goals, but precisely defined, Minister Mali said at the end of his visit.
