SEVEN RED CROWNS OF SERBIAN POINTS In these places the number of infected grows day by day and the situation becomes critical (MAP)

Since the beginning of the month, the epidemiological situation has been heating up and has never completely calmed down before. The number of infected people is growing daily and the situation in some Serbian cities is becoming more and more dramatic. Or there are fewer and fewer places in hospitals and the situation becomes critical in these six points of the red crown.

Top of the crown’s infamous list of hot spots still belongs to Belgrade, followed by Nis and Novi Sad. This data is not very surprising, considering that these are the three largest cities in Serbia, where the concentration of people is higher, and thus the transmission of the virus is facilitated.

However, some smaller places in Serbia stand out in terms of the number of infected, which in relation to the number of inhabitants and the health capacities of those places, potentially represent a greater danger.

These are the seven red dots on the Serbian crown map:

1. Belgrade

The capital has been at the top of the list of the biggest hotspots since the beginning of the pandemic. In the year of the epidemic, the days when Belgrade did not have the highest number of infected people in Serbia on a daily basis can be counted on the fingers.

Experts have warned of public transport, which has been marked as one of the main places where the covid is transmitted since the beginning of the pandemic, but also of restaurants and cafes.

The nightlife that Belgrade is famous for is one of the main sources of trouble. In recent weeks, we have witnessed a large number of broken holiday wreaths attended by several hundred people. During the New Years and Christmas holidays, there was a trend for secret covid parties in the capital, which people organized in “apartments of the day”, weekend houses, and some even rented their garages or hangars for parties.

All this has driven the numbers to run wild in Belgrade, and since the beginning of the month, they have been consistently above 1,000 newly infected, and the number of places in hospitals is decreasing. An example is KBC “Dragiša Mišović”, where today, according to the words of Deputy Director Predrag Savić, there are only three free beds left.

-Of 172 patients, 11 are children and eight are pregnant. Unfortunately, yesterday there were 19 receptions during the 24 hours. We were left with three vacancies – Savic said.

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday: 1,060 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday: 1,214 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday: 1,265 new infected in 24 hours.
  • Thursday: 1,218 new infected in 24 hours
  • Friday: 1,302 new infected in 24 hours

2. Novi Sad

According to the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina, on March 1, 408 new cases of coronavirus were registered in the province, and the largest number was registered in Novi Sad – 204, and already today 736 new cases were registered, among which Novi Sad again. carries with 228.

As “Blic” finds out, 155 kovid patients are currently being treated at the Vojvodina Clinical Center, 10 of whom are on ventilators. At the Institute of Pulmonary Diseases in Sremska Kamenica, 51 people were treated for corona, four of whom receive mechanical ventilation.

Authorities at the “Novi Sad” health center say the number of citizens reporting to Kovid’s ambulance in Novi Naselje in Novi Sad has increased markedly.

Likewise, the mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, told RTS that the city of Novi Sad will propose potential locations for a new kovid hospital in that city in a few days, which will have a capacity of between 400 and 500 beds.

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday: 265 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday – 374 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday: 221 new infected in 24 hours
  • Thursday – 188 new infected in 24 hours
  • Friday – 187 new infected in 24 hours

3.Nish

The situation is not much better in the south either. Otherwise. The city that was one of the top hotspots in the first wave is now back on the same list. Even, according to prof. Dr. Radmilo Jankovic, director of the Clinic for Anesthesia and Intensive Care and coordinator of Kovid hospitals in southern Serbia, this time the situation is even worse.

– Unfortunately, the situation is very bad. Nis has the highest number of infected people since the beginning of the epidemic. 118 patients were hospitalized in the New Clinical Center, 30 are in intensive care and we have a complete Infectious Disease Clinic. That means more than 200 patients were hospitalized, and that’s terrible because 70 percent are from Nis, which has never happened before. There are so many first exams that it is alarming, we will have to release more capacities – said Janković.

He says that after Sretenje, the number of patients began to grow dramatically.

– The numbers were seen to stagnate throughout January at a high level, and then everything started to grow after Sretenje, everything exploded. Mainly our behavior led to this. I mean a complete behavior, not only of those who go to bars and cafes, but of all those who do not respect discipline, epidemiological measures and whose behavior transmits the message to others so that they do not adhere to it – says the Dr. Janković.

According to him, at the moment, there are not a lot of sick doctors and medical personnel because many of them were overwhelmed with the crown or were vaccinated with two doses of the vaccine. But the problem is that the doctors are exhausted.

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday – 185 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday – 229 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday: 267 new infected in 24 hours
  • Thursday – 292 new infected in 24 hours
  • Friday – 243 new infected in 24 hours

4. Vranje

Even further south, even sadder, at least when it comes to the epidemiological picture.

Sladjan Stankovic, an epidemiologist at the Vranje Health Center, described for “Blic” the situation in that city as extraordinary and extremely difficult, and the figures that arrive during days better illustrate this.

Dr. Sladjan Stankovic

On Thursday, 101 new infected people were registered in Vranje. This figure may not sound alarming compared to the figures we hear about at the Serbian or capital level.

However, if we consider that Vranje has about 85,000 inhabitants and is approximately 20 times smaller than Belgrade, a simple calculation shows that 101 infected people in the southern Serbian city are the same as if we had 2,020 positive people in Belgrade. !

– There are a large number of hospitalized. All the capacities of the Pčinja district hospitals have been filled: two in Vranje and one in Surdulica. The number of patients with severe and moderate clinical symptoms is increasing. There were 10 percent pneumonia patients on a daily basis in the previous days, and in the last two days there were about 20 percent. The diseases occur in all ages, and mainly in the working population, but there are a significant number of infected children in both preschool and school children, Dr. Stanković told “Blic”.

He also noted that the capacities of a hospital in Vranje were expanded, but that even that was not enough, so now 165 patients are in the hospital, 72 of whom are receiving oxygen. He also adds that almost every day, several patients are transported to clinical centers in surrounding cities, and that medical personnel in Vranje are on the brink of resistance.

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday – 104 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday – 86 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday – 76 new infected in 24 h
  • Thursday – 101 new infected in 24 h
  • Friday – 93 new infected in 24 hours

5. Paracina

In November, a state of emergency was declared in Paracin due to the dramatic epidemiological situation. Although the number of infected people in this municipality now seems “small”, compared to Belgrade and the number of inhabitants, it is clear that this is still a serious situation.

Photo: Aleksandar Dimitrijevic / RAS Serbia

In other words, Paracin has about 25,000 citizens and, from that angle, is about 68 times smaller than Belgrade. So if we take Wednesday, when this city had 75 infected, it would be as if there were 5,100 infected in Belgrade!

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday – 47 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday – 51 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday – 75 new infected in 24 h
  • Thursday – 48 new infected in 24 h
  • Friday – 59 new infected in 24 hours

6.Cuprija

A year ago, Ćuprija “stood out” for a large number of infected medical workers – up to 18! Again, that may seem small, but compared to the capital and the main focus, it still isn’t.

Parish

Parish

With about 20,000 inhabitants, the parish is about 85 times smaller than the capital. If we take Wednesday as an example, when there were 59 infected people in this place, it would be as if there were 5,015 infected people in Belgrade in one day!

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday: less than 40 new infected in 24 hours
  • Tuesday: less than 40 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday – 59 new infected in 24 h
  • Thursday – 44 new infected in 24 h
  • Friday – 41 new infected in 24 hours

7.Kraljevo

According to the latest report from the Institute of Public Health, one in three people tested in Kraljevo tested positive for the corona virus. And five days ago, the number of infected people was more than 100 per day, making Kraljevo one of the leading cities in Serbia in terms of the number of infected people.

Korona Kraljevo

However, unlike the previous wave when the crowds were all day, now there are only in the morning. This practically means, looking at the daily reports on the number of infected, that the new wave is just beginning.

As we found out, due to the increase in the number of patients with Kovid 19, the new Kovid ward at the General Hospital “Studenica” has already been prepared. In other words, the Pneumology service has already moved to the ground floor of the Internal Medicine Hospital, where patients with Kovid 19 were hospitalized. So space was made for new patients.

– At this moment 59 sick patients are housed. There are 10 patients in intensive care, six of whom have been intubated. During the last 24 hours, 14 were admitted, 12 were discharged and 1 patient died, they say from Kraljevo hospital.

Since the beginning of the month, the figures have been as follows:

  • Monday – 113 new infections in 24 hours
  • Tuesday – 128 new infected in 24 hours
  • Wednesday – 102 new infected in 24 hours
  • Thursday – 120 new infected in 24 h
  • Friday – 132 new infected in 24 hours
