The mayor of Belgrade visited the injured children in Tirsova and claimed that the medical team is fighting for their lives.

Of the seven children injured in today’s fire around 4.30pm in the Cukarica neighborhood of Belgrade, four have life-threatening burns, it was said at the University Children’s Clinic in Tirsova.

“Four patients are in the intensive care unit with severe life-threatening burns, and two are in extremely serious condition,” they told the Beta agency of that hospital.

They also indicated that three children were admitted to the department of plastic surgery.

“The treatments and examinations continue,” said staff on duty at the children’s clinic in Tirsova.

Seven children and one adult were injured in the fire that preceded the explosion.

The fire broke out in a barracks located below the transmission line. An investigation is ongoing into this case.

Tonight, the Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, visited children who were treated at Tirsova University Children’s Hospital in a serious accident in Cukarica with serious injuries.

– I am very concerned about the accident that happened tonight in Čukarica. Seven children were admitted to the hospital in the afternoon with serious injuries and the guard team is working hard on their treatment. I visited them tonight, the most important thing is that the children are cared for by the best doctors, the entire medical team is fighting for their lives and I hope for the best – said Radojicic.

According to the statement, after the incident near the transmission line, the children were seriously injured by the electric shock, and the mayor explained that the authorities reacted quickly and that further investigation into the cause of the accident is expected.
