Tonight there was a serious traffic accident around 7 pm on the road to Novi Sad between the Zemun and Batajnica settlements in Belgrade. The accident occurred on the stretch of road between the Zemun Park shopping center and the junction where the turnoff to Zemun Polje is located, it was confirmed to “Blic” from the Ministry of the Interior.
The accident occurred, in still inexplicable circumstances, when Peugeot 206 and Volkswagen Type cars collided in the same direction, from Belgrade to Novi Sad. Due to the force of the impact, the Peugeot spun and crashed into the protective fence while the Volkswagen skidded into the canal alongside the road, “Alo” reports.
Traffic police teams are at the scene of the accident.
The left side of the road on that part of the road is closed, so traffic is only in one lane, but there are no major delays.
It is not known what was the state of the people who were traveling in the cars, what was the degree of their injuries and if there were deaths.
An investigation is ongoing.
