Opposition to the boycott officially experienced a debacle. The free citizens movement, whose leader is Sergej Trifunović, announced yesterday that they will go to the polls, which only withdrew their legs so that other boycotters, both those of the Alliance for Serbia and outsiders, begin to reorganize themselves for the elections.

According to our information, the leader of the SAA, Dragan Djilas, plans to participate in the race through the old town and Vracar, and for that he will send his faithful partner Marko Bastać. In addition to PSG leaders Sergej Trifunović and Đilas, our source reveals that at the last opposition meeting on Thursday night, Dveri leader Boško Obradović also called for going to the polls.

Divided

Obradović is obviously on the campaign trail and preparing for the elections. The only ones who were unreservedly in favor of the boycott are DS leader Zoran Lutovac and Popular Party leader Vuk Jeremic. The movement “Let’s not drown Belgrade” wants to go to the local elections and will probably form a coalition with the PSG and the association “1 in 5 million” – says the Kurir source.

Trifunovic announced that PSG will go only to the parliamentary elections, and that locally it is possible to be on a joint list with parties “with principles”, and that “certainly will not be SNS and SPS.” As he said, he will not speak to Serbia 21, Nenad Čanko, Tatjana Matsura …

Nothing from a list

– Even today, I persuaded all SZS people to go together on a list. The local elections are where I could get the most in the negotiations with the SZS, but we cannot go further, it is a bone they cannot swallow … Until now nobody has convinced me why the boycott is good – said Trifunović.

Tadic, who heads the Social Democratic Party, also admits that there is no absolute unity among boycotters.

– I proposed a compromise solution so that the united opposition goes to the polls on a list called the “Boycott List” and that citizens are clearly told that the list will not participate in the work of parliament, which will suspend the work of the parliamentarians. Therefore, mandates must be taken, but not participate, and the money received in the name of participation in parliament must be promised to humanitarian institutions, Tadic explained.

Enough is Enough leader Sasa Radulovic believes that PSG broke the boycott, at Djilas’s urging.

Incidentally, DS and the Free Serbia Movement, which were founded by former PSG members, signed a joint action agreement yesterday. The DS statement states that this agreement contemplates cooperation in the field of the expansion of the democratic opposition political group, which believes that “there are no conditions to hold free elections” in Serbia.

TIME FOR A NEW REGROUP

Kurir has already written about the plan for Tadic to lead the list of the united DS in the elections, which would include Zoran Zivkovic’s new party.

“The electoral conditions will not change by complaining and fleeing the plaza or by rioting with 50 people, which are more appropriate for bad fans of provincial football clubs,” Zivkovic said yesterday. Deputy DS Radoslav Milojicic said the SZS failed the exam and that it was time for a new political rally. Milojicic is one of those Democrats who openly opposed the DS’s entry into the SZS and the party’s cooperation with Dveri.

POLITICAL TRADE

Political analyst Branko Radun says boycotters now saw their opportunity in citizen dissatisfaction due to the state of emergency. – Sergei loves you, he won’t go to the polls. I think he trades a little politically, both with the government and with the opposition. From what I can see they are also breaking down into SZS. Djilas is in favor, while Jeremic is opposed. By going to the polls, they certainly risk dividing the votes. On the other hand, now they see their opportunity among dissatisfied citizens – Radun concludes.
