Miroljub Jovanovic – Mika Tambura, the founder of the legendary group “Wandering Hearts”, a veteran editor of RTV “Belami” and a famous cultural worker, passed away last night after a brief illness at the age of 69 from the consequences of the corona virus.

Miroljub Jovanovic was born on May 21, 1951. He finished primary and secondary school in Nis. He graduated from the College of Occupational Safety. He became editor of the music and entertainment program at the Casa de la Cultura “Josip Columbus” in 1974, where in 1978 he became director. In 1986, he was elected deputy director of the National Theater of Nis. He spent almost 30 years in the media, starting in 1993 when he was the editor-in-chief of the first private radio station in Nis, Belami Radio.

In his early youth, he founded the group “Wandering Hearts”, which this year marked 50 years of work. With the song “A little more”, which became a perennial, they won at the Subotica festival, after which there were hits and awards at the Sarajevo and Zagreb festivals. The group was the only representative from Yugoslavia at the 1974 Bremen Festival.

Connoisseurs of the cultural circumstances of Nis testify that Jovanović’s contribution to the cultural life of Nis was enormous and immeasurable. It is known that for a long time he organized “Film Meetings” and choir festivals, but he was also one of the founders of the Nis Music Festival, the gallery of the Nis Cultural Center, as well as the organizer of the Contemporary Serbian Film Festival of Vienna

Mika’s smile and cheerful spirit were her recognizable sign of recognition. Always ready to joke, he loved life and with his exceptional sense of humor, he spread optimism wherever he was. The news that he was in hospital with lung problems worried and upset a large number of his friends from Nis. For almost a week, everyone had hoped that Mika could overcome the illness, but hopes were dashed the night before when it was announced that he had passed away despite all the best efforts of the doctors.

On social media, the people of Nis say goodbye to Jovanović with moving messages.

Jovanovic left two sons, a daughter and a granddaughter.

The time of the funeral will be announced later.
