Serbian meteorologist’s big warning about the approaching cyclone: ​​more rain will fall that day than during all of October

– This strong cyclone coming from the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas will move to its center on Monday and Tuesday through the Balkan peninsula and Serbia beyond the Carpathians to the northeast and will bring very heavy rains, heavy rains and very windy weather. . The rain will begin to fall in the north, west and southwest of Serbia on Monday morning and will spread to other areas during the day. – says Đurić.

As the day progresses and the intensity of precipitation will increase, so on Monday afternoon and evening, and especially overnight and Tuesday morning, we expect very heavy rains.

– In most of Serbia, 20 to 60 mm of rain per square meter is expected to fall, locally more than 70 mm and in the Belgrade area 30 to 50 mm. So in some places, more rain will fall in just over 24 hours than the whole of October, and the average amount of precipitation for many parts of Serbia and Belgrade during October is around 50mm. Two days ago, Belgrade already achieved 35 mm in just under 20 hours – says the meteorologist.

Due to heavy rains, small rivers are expected to rise sharply, which could lead to smaller river overflows and torrents at night between Monday and Tuesday and Tuesday. The good news is that a drier period is behind us, so river levels are quite low, but still, as 70mm of rain is expected in some places, care must be taken when dealing with torrential flooding. in smaller rivers, especially in the south. central, western and southwestern parts of Serbia.

After 21-22 ° C on Sunday, Monday will bring temperatures from 12 ° C in the northwest to 24 ° C in the southeast of Serbia, and it is the cyclone and the cold front that will cause a very strong change in the weather.

– On Tuesday, it will be even colder, with a maximum temperature of 8 ° C in the west to 18 ° C in the east of Serbia and up to 10 ° C in Belgrade. In the evening between Monday and Tuesday and Tuesday in the mountainous areas of western and southwestern Serbia, more than 20 cm of very wet snow could fall and the snow line would drop to 700 meters. – said Đurić.

On Tuesday during the day, the rainfall is expected to subside, by the end of the day to stop and clear. On Wednesday, sunny and noticeably warmer weather, and temperatures will hover around 20 ° C.
