The first official social survey on the clothing purchase cycle in our country, carried out by the Center for Environmental Improvement, indicates that most of us buy stockings and socks, an average of 8.3 pieces, boxers and panties of 7.6 pieces, and t-shirts and t-shirts. interior 5. 4 pieces per year. Other garments, such as shirts, blouses, dresses, pants and jeans, are bought less frequently, between two and three pieces a year, while jackets, coats, coats and custom-made items (ski clothes, suits, ties, bathrobes) are purchased less frequently. .

Most of the time we buy clothes in global brand stores (60.5 percent), second-hand stores (16.2 percent), national manufacturers stores (13.4 percent) and, together, less than 10 percent of the population buys clothes online, in markets or in some other places.

The quality of clothing is crucial for 54.5 percent of those surveyed, while for 41.2 percent the most important factor is price. Only 4.3 percent of them buy clothes because of the trend.

On average, we wear shorter socks and panties. Up to 73.1 percent of those surveyed wear socks for less than a year. The same is true of boxers, women’s underwear, bras, which half of them discard in less than 12 months. On the other hand, the most durable are ski suits (58 months), followed by coats and bathrobes (52 months each). When looking at the big picture, most types of clothing are worn between 30 and 40 months.

Although it is often repeated that women are in the lead in the purchase of clothes, research has shown that, in addition to minimal differences in the number of items purchased individually, both sexes record the same average, including the time of use of the clothes clothing is shorter for men than for women.

The researchers emphasize that all the numbers should be higher, because the analysis was conducted in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic, when purchases were reduced by as much as 48 percent.

More than half donate clothes

When they no longer want to wear certain items, more than 55 percent of respondents donate clothing, 16 percent generally keep them in the closet, and nearly 16 percent donate clothing. The fewest respondents are trying to sell it (2.2 percent), about seven percent are changing the purpose of their clothing, and nearly four percent are throwing it away.
