Police Director Vladimir Rebić and the Ambassador of the Republic of France Jean-Louis Falconi attended today a joint counter-terrorism exercise of members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia and the Special Unit of the French Police RAID .
– It is a pleasure for me to have attended the exercises and I was convinced of the ability of the members of these two special units who showed preparation and training to face the biggest plague in the world, terrorism – said Rebić.
Thanking his colleagues in the French Republic’s criminal police for exceptional cooperation in the exchange of information at the level of the fight against terrorism, Rebić noted that operational information and operational work on the ground are important for successful results in this area, in order to avoid unwanted situations.
– The Ministry of the Interior invests significant resources in the fight against terrorism and I believe that our Special Anti-Terrorist Unit is one of the best in this part of Europe – said the Police Director, adding that cooperation with elite units such as RAID is of great importance.
Ambassador Falconi assessed that this demonstration exercise also testifies to the commitment of Franco-Serbian cooperation in the field of internal security.
– The counterterrorism exercise that the members of RAID and SAJ processed this year is tragically characteristic of France, considering that it is a close fight and neutralization of terrorists in various dangerous situations, mainly indoors. Such exchanges of experiences are of utmost importance for the members of both units, because they improve their work by comparing different techniques and exchanging experiences – said the Ambassador of France.
Falconi emphasized that the cooperation between the two fraternal units will continue in the future.
SAJ Commander Spasoje Vulevic noted that today’s exercise with RAID is the eighth in a row.
– In cooperation with RAID, we familiarized ourselves with the standard operating procedures used by this unit and conducted joint training. Unfortunately, terrorism is a global threat and what the French police and the French people have faced in recent years and the experience of RAID in those tragic and critical situations, which they passed on to us, is very important to us – concluded Vulevic.
In the demonstration exercise, SAJ members presented the action to resolve the hostage situation by applying indoor tactical hand-to-hand combat.
