As the meteorologists announced, after a warm weekend, Monday brought us a sudden wave of cold, but also snow.
Although we had shorter sunny intervals today in most of Serbia, with the first darkness, the first light rain began which, as the night progresses, slowly turns to snow.
A few inches of wet snow fell tonight in Uzice, while the hills around the city were noticed in the late afternoon. The temperature is more than three degrees, so the snow does not stay on the streets.
Snow was also falling on the other side of Serbia, so the citizens of Bor can enjoy the magic of winter again tonight.
Wet snow has been falling nonstop for the past two hours in Bor and the streets and parks have turned white again. The current temperature in that city is zero degrees.
Mornings in red
Forecasters predict that there will be an increase in the mountainous areas, and during Tuesday night, there will also be a layer of snow in the lower areas. So at least four inches of snow in the lowlands awaits us tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow we expect mostly cloudy weather in the central and southern parts, with light snowfall in some places, which will cause a minor increase in the snow cover height in most of Serbia, while in Vojvodina it will be mostly dry.
The minimum temperature will be -2 in the north to 1 degree centigrade in the south and in Negotin, and the maximum of 1 to 4 degrees, which will be in Negotin.
Similar temperatures will be maintained over the next few days during the week with light morning frosts and possible snowfall, while the weather will improve again over the weekend, and those temperatures will increase slightly.
Warning: the water level is rising
Furthermore, the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) issued a hydrological warning about rising water levels in rivers, especially in South Morava, where the water level will potentially exceed the level of regular flood defenses.
– During January 26, in Lim, Ibar, lower reaches of Toplica and South Morava with tributaries, as well as in Beli and Crni Timok, water levels will reach and slightly exceed the limits of the regular flood defense, and near from Mojsinje in South Morava the frontier of emergency flood defense – found on the RHMZ website.
Outlook hours until February 1
Until Thursday, mostly cloudy and cold, on Tuesday and Wednesday in some places with light snowfall, at night between Thursday and Friday, rain. Since the warmest Friday, occasional clouds with rain, in the highest mountains with snow.
