There are ten days until the New Year, and the citizens of Serbia still do not know when and in what order they will be vaccinated against kovid-19. Promises by the authorities that a million doses of vaccines will arrive in the country by the end of December, stopped at less than 5,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. During that time, the countries of the world are vaccinating intensively, especially health workers. In Chicago, that process is largely underway, says Dr. Aleksandra Popović for H1.
Serbia is still waiting for the first vaccine and government officials say it will arrive. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that it could be one million doses by the new year, but it obviously won’t happen.
Currently, the amount of vaccines that reach our country is unknown.
“They will know exactly what the quantities will be as soon as they arrive and at this time we are still negotiating with the producers. I think it is especially important that we get the vaccine in December,” Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said.
The Medicines Agency is also waiting for the first Pfizer vaccines to be tested. They have data on the amount, they say 4,875 doses are arriving.
“We hope that the first doses will arrive in the next few days, when the control will be carried out in our laboratory and a certificate of analysis will be issued, which is the last step before the vaccine reaches the end user, that is, the citizens of Serbia, “said Pavle Zelic from Pharmaceutical Agencies.
While the citizens of Serbia wait, Dr. Aleksandra Popović, who works in Chicago, shares her experience with us. She was vaccinated Friday with the Pfizer vaccine and says there are no reactions for now
“Huge quantities of vaccines have already been delivered, the problem is that you have to make an appointment for the vaccine, answer a dozen questions for 30 minutes, sign the consent and wait 15 minutes after having been vaccinated to see if you have any allergies “he explained. is Dr. Popovic.
For now, the reactions to the Pfizer vaccine that have been reported are pain at the injection site, swelling, redness, which, as the doctors explain, is standard for any vaccine.
“There is also a side effect that is not serious, a day or two of fatigue, muscle pain, headaches, all of which do not really cause any serious problems and there is less risk and problem of having a headache for two days than having a crown, “Zelic said. .
In Chicago, Dr. Popović says, healthcare workers get vaccinated first and then the vaccine will reach nursing homes. The phasic vaccine creates, as he explains, a special protein in the body.
“Your body knows that it is a foreign protein and begins to produce antibodies against that protein. That way, your body produces antibodies and remembers that protein and in the future, when you come into contact with the coronavirus, your antibodies will protect you,” he explained. the doctor.
For now, it is known that the first doses in Serbia will go to nursing homes, but the subsequent vaccination process is not yet known, considering that the Pfizer vaccine is stored at minus 80 degrees.
“Trampoline made a vaccination plan, today after the Crisis Staff session, the whole team stayed to discuss a higher prioritization because I hope that the vaccination will start in the next few days in Serbia,” said the Prime Minister.
The Agency for Medicines and Health Products has authorized 20,475 doses of vaccines. The plan is for 350,000 Pfizer vaccines to arrive in Serbia in March, and it is not yet known how many Russian and Chinese vaccines could arrive.
