BELGRADE – Serbia and the world will mark World War I Reconciliation Day tomorrow in memory of November 11, 1918, when Entente forces signed an armistice with Germany and thus ended World War I.

As part of the central state ceremony on November 11, the Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, on behalf of the Serbian government, will lay a wreath at the Belgrade Defenders Memorial Ossuary in the World War I, announced the corresponding ministry.

The wreaths will also be deposited by the President of the Serbian Assembly Ivica Dačić, delegations from the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, the city of Belgrade, the Association for the Promotion of the Traditions of the Wars of Liberation of Serbia, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Armistice Day in World War I is marked in memory of November 11, 1918, when the armistice was signed in the French town of Compiegne and the First World War ended.

The armistice was signed in a special carriage of Marshal Ferdinand Foch, entered into force at 11 a.m. and was in force until the conclusion of the final peace agreement at Versailles on June 28, 1919. In Serbia, this day was held for the first time in 2012.

The main motif of the emblem of this holiday is the Natalija Ramonda flower, and the motif of the Albanian monument ribbon, which is located above the flower, also appears on the emblem.
