Serbia cannot carry out works on the Jarinje-Kosovska Mitrovica highway, the Kosovo Clan’s Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo announced late Thursday. The statement comes just one day after the announcement by the Serbian president: that the start of works on this road is expected in a month at the latest, KoSSev recalls.
“The Jarinje-Mitrovica highway is a regional highway of the Republic of Kosovo, and its care is the responsibility of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, which also applies to all other regional roads in the territory of the Republic”, the Kosovo Prime Said the Office of the Minister.
They add that these statements from Serbia are “reckless” and that “any possible action in this regard is unacceptable to Kosovo.”
On the other hand, they specified that evaluations of the situation are currently being carried out, in order to determine if it is necessary to invest in this way.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced yesterday that works on the main Jarinje-Kosovska Mitrovica highway will start in one month at the latest. He said that the order for works in this section has already been issued and that at the same time economic resources have been provided.

Vučić has previously spoken about rebuilding this 54-kilometer-long road.
